Tim Adams, Chairman Consolidated PR, Chairman Pegasus PR, Co-founder Lexis PRMargot Raggett’s expertise draws upon almost 20 years’ experience of the PR agency business.
In every role from graduate trainee to chief executive, and in building an independent UK agency business into a key part of an integrated global group. I launched Lexis PR, as one of two co-founders, in 1992. Margot joined the company the following year, as our first graduate trainee; a decade later she bought the business, as part of a five-strong MBO team, subsequently selling the agency to Next Fifteen in 2004 and being appointed as Lexis’ chief executive in 2007.
During Margot’s time at Lexis the company’s fee income grew from £400,000 to £9 million and, throughout that time and at each stage of the company’s development, she played an instrumental role in delivering its growth.
Graduate trainee to CEO is quite a cv and I’d attempt a brief, objective summary with the following three points.
First, in Margot’s CEO role, she expanded Lexis’ international network and capability, fostered integration with other Group agencies, planned and implemented its acquisition strategy, its continued evolution and its senior recruitment and succession planning.
Second, as a Board director she demonstrated great commercial understanding and the ability to deliver profitable growth; great strategic insight, backed by senior level presentation and advisory skills, and outstanding new business performance, exemplified by winning and growing key clients such as Unilever and Boots. She contributed significantly throughout to the Board’s collegiate approach and the company’s strong
and supportive culture.And third, throughout her career she has always demonstrated great commitment, drive, determination and follow-through; an instinctive understanding of what makes for successful client/agency relationships;
and consistently great team skills, in contributing to, supporting and
leading agency teams.I’ve always enjoyed working with Margot, I have great respect for her ability
and I’d certainly recommend her to potential future clients, both agency and
in-house.
