About Naked Emperor

Naked Emperor has been set up by ex-Lexis CEO Margot Raggett as a new breed of business and PR advisory service for agencies and clients alike.

Founder Margot Raggett is a home-grown success story from one of the UK’s most successful PR agencies of the past two decades, Lexis. She started as the firm’s first-ever graduate trainee (and the 7th member of staff) in 1993 and during the 90s quickly ascended the ranks, joining the board in 2000.

In 2001 she instigated and was integral to the success of a Management Buyout (MBO) from the original founders and took on the role of COO after that process was completed.

In 2007 Lexis was sold to holding company Next Fifteen Communications and Margot was promoted to CEO in August of that year. She held that position for four years during which the team grew to a peak of around 100 people. Strongly believing in the critical importance of agency culture in driving success, she built on Lexis’s participation in The Sunday Times Best Small Companies to Work For awards and the firm was awarded a top 100 place every year during her leadership, with a highest ranking of 10 and including a special award for Well-Being Initiatives.

During this period she also oversaw the successful acquisition and integration of Glasshouse Ltd into Lexis and also drove NFC’s international consumer expansion strategy, identifying M Booth & Associates as the ideal target to be a sister company for Lexis in New York. NFC went on to purchase the firm for exactly that purpose in 2009.

As well as an experienced agency leader Margot has a highly successful PR consulting background. She personally led the award-winning Dove Campaign for Real Beauty campaign in the UK from day one of its launch. She also has a formidable pitch conversion track rate, winning the majority of Lexis’s major clients over the years including Boots, Unilever and Allied Bakeries.

Outside of Lexis she has judged all of the industry’s key awards including PR Week, PRCA, AMEC, The Sabres and The Grocer Awards. She also sat on the board of the PRCA for three years and has featured in PR Week’s ‘Power Book’ of the most influential PR operators in the UK for the past four years. Margot left Lexis in 2011 after 18 years in order to establish Naked Emperor Ltd as a unique type of business serving the PR and digital consulting and client sectors. In 2013 she was made a Fellow of the PRCA (FPRCA) in recognition of her contribution to the UK PR industry.
